Proven Habits for Clear Skin

People vehemently oppose the notion that they caused their acne, when all of us are more or less somewhat implicated in causing the disorder. Instead, we play the blame game, pointing the finger at the food industry which has laced our diet with processed foods. Sometimes, we blame our parents, who themselves suffered at the hands of acne because of heredity. Clearly, acne can be caused by uncontrollable factors, but in most cases it is allowed to get out-of-control because of our own destructive behaviors.

If you are someone who has had the fortune of never enduring the condition, we have some strategies to share that will hopefully keep your skin clear for many years to come. The earlier you pick up these habits, the more likely you will maintain a clear complexion. Those of you who are currently battling this disorder should use this advice for future reference and pass it on to anyone who seems misinformed to spare them a bout of pimples.

Whether you like it or not, we live in a rather vain society. People are constantly glancing at their skin in magnified mirrors and buying more skin care products than their bathroom can hold. This obsession with appearance has perpetuated an ill-advised behavior – face touching. Most don’t seem to think twice about touching their face with the same hands that they just used to dust a shelf or clean grease off a kitchen counter. We all know that putting dirty hands in your mouth is a bad idea, so why does this not seem to apply to our facial skin? You can carry bacteria and other contaminants on your fingers that can cause or worsen a case of acne. If you really feel the need to touch your skin, wash your hands first!

We can see the proliferation of vanity once again when observing how teens and adult handle breakouts. If they don’t pop every last zit they see, they won’t be able to continue with their day. Acne popping actually spreads bacteria to more pores, just making the condition worse. So one popped pimple can eventually lead to a full-blown case of acne. There is also the risk of acne scarring which we have to consider. Since we like to use our fingernails to pop pesky zits, there is a risk that we may scar our skin. If you don’t want severe acne and scars, exercise some self-control.

The lifestyle which the younger generation leads on a daily basis is one of concern. Late night video gaming, in addition to test cramming all adds up to disaster. Our body cannot function properly without enough rest, or exuberant amounts of stress. Naturally, disorders such as acne can arise. If you want clear skin, you will have to find the motivation to formulate a more consistent sleep pattern and to minimize stress. Video games can wait, and study sessions can be scheduled more appropriately. If you play with your health, acne will be the least of your concerns.
